Benefits Of These Tropical Fruit Popsicles
- Healthy. They’re made using 100% natural ingredients and real whole fruit rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They’re free from added refined sugar and artificial additives, preservatives, sweeteners, flavourings and colourings that store bought contain.
- Quick and easy. They require just 5 minutes to prepare before putting them in the freezer to set.
- Gluten and dairy free. They’re made without milk, yoghurt and cream making them allergy friendly and free from all top 8 allergens, including gluten, dairy, nuts, seeds, soy and grains.
- Light and refreshing. Ice pops are a great way to keep cool in the summer. Like this immune boosting chaga mixed berry thick smoothie bowl, they’re a light and refreshing snack that the whole family will love and are a great way to disguise fruit to get kids consuming more!
Ingredients
5 simple natural ingredients are all that’s needed:-
- Frozen mango,
- Frozen pineapple,
- Banana,
- Freshly squeezed orange juice,
- Filtered water.
Equipment Needed
- Stainless steel popsicle molds (UK Link/US Link). Lots of popsicle molds are made from plastic, which leach chemicals into the popsicles. Plastic can weaken our immune system and cause a range of health problems, such as hormone, respiratory, nervous system, reproductive and developmental problems (1, 2, 3). Instead, I use Ecozoi’s food grade stainless steels molds with bamboo sticks (UK Link/US Link), which are plastic free and leaching free.
Step By Step Instructions
Homemade sugar free ice pops are made in just 5 minutes, following 3 easy steps:-
- Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender and blend on high for 2 minutes, or until a smooth liquid is formed,
- Pour the liquid into popsicle molds,
- Place them in the freezer for at least 12 hours, or overnight, until completely set.
Variations & Ingredient Substitutions
- Frozen pineapple can be replaced with extra frozen mango.
- Frozen mango can be substituted for extra frozen pineapple.
- Replace a portion of the pineapple and mango with fresh or frozen papaya.
- Freshly squeezed orange juice can be replaced with filtered water, although this will dilute the flavour slightly as the orange adds a delicious citrus flavour. Alternatively, for a punchier citrus flavour, use lemon or lime juice instead.
Storage
Freezer
Homemade popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
How to remove popsicles from mold
When ready to eat, remove from the freezer and run the bottom of the mold under warm water for a few seconds. This should allow you to remove the popsicle easily from the mold by puling on the stick. Ensure you don’t run it under warm water for too long to avoid melting the popsicle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, these popsicles are made using just fruit and filtered water making them vegan friendly.
Yes, you can use fresh pineapple and mango if you don’t have frozen. However, using fresh fruit will mean the popsicles take longer to set in the freezer.
The popsicles should be placed in the freezer for at least 12 hours, or overnight, until they’re completely set and solid.
When kept in the freezer, homemade popsicles will last for up to 3 months. The popsicles developing freezer burn, where ice crystals form on them, or a sticky gummy coating indicate they have lost their freshness and should be removed from the freezer and discarded.

I do love the sound of these. It’s a great way to boost a child’s fruit intake especially if they don’t each much fruit.
Thank you for your comment Melanie. It really is such a great way of getting kids to eat more fruit.
I can totally feel my taste buds tingling reading the post and seeing the images. A refreshing mango lolly would be absolutely perfect right now! I cannot even recall the last time I made ice lollies, just so much easier to buy and freeze. Though I do appreciate the health aspect and knowing what is actually going into the lollies. Plus, homemade always tastes better! 🙂

Mmmm yum! I eat lots of orange ice lollies, pretty much have one every day, but I spend so much money on them. To just make them myself would be a lot more logical, and it’s great you can make them so they’re tummy-friendly and suitable for various allergies and intolerances. Deliiiiiicious!
Caz xx
